Last evening, Mayor Lamar Patton turned the Christmas Tree at Hulland Park red, white, and blue in honor of Veterans Homecoming Week. Visit https://5il.co/28i3l to view his message. The City of Hollister is proud of the men and women that have served our country and have allowed us the freedoms to celebrate as a community. This also begins our annual tradition of lighting the Hollister Christmas Trees. Be on the watch each week as we invite community members to choose each tree’s design. Missouri Department of Transportation will close Highway BB at Lacis Lane tomorrow, Monday, November 6th for pipe replacement. Work is scheduled, weather permitting, from 7:00am until 3:30pm. Please plan alternate routes of travel during this time.
The City of Hollister is excited to welcome Christmas to Downing Street with our Tree Lighting this evening at 6:00pm. Please be alert to increased traffic during this time and watch for pedestrians throughout downtown.

In its upcoming art exhibit, Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) will be featuring the work of 14 area photographers in The Art of Photography. The exhibit will run from November 3-25 at the SMAC Art Center gallery on historic Downing Street in Hollister. The opening reception will be held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk on Friday, November 3, from 6-9 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Attendees may view the exhibit, tour the private studios, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. The Vintage Paris Coffee kiosk will also be on site. Last Wednesday, October 25th, Mayor Lamar Patton celebrated Lights on After School with the Hollister Tiger Academy. He was presented with a blue sash as a gift from the “Mayors of Tiger Academy.” The City of Hollister is proud of the after-school programs for the Hollister students and appreciates each of the teachers and staff members that make this program amazing.

This Friday, November 3rd, the City of Hollister invites you to join them for the Annual Downing Street Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:00pm at the Downing Street Pedestrian Mall. Enjoy cookies and hot chocolate as we sing carols and wait for a visit from the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus. This event is weather dependent, so follow our Facebook page or download our app for updates, if necessary, on Friday.
